- Is the KRC a government owned entity?
Answer: No. Kingston Restoration Company Ltd is incorporated as a
company limited by guarantee not having a share capital. It
constitutes a public private partnership entity.
- Does KRC have a mandate to effect physical, social and economic development for Kingston?
Answer: The KRC works in a wider development context with partners/
entities. Our mission statement defines our
wider role in “creating the conditions necessary for
sustainable, physical cultural, social and economic
development for urban areas”. This translated, means that KRC is
able to partner with entities, funding agencies, the Government of
Jamaica and international development partners to effect
development change. The company is not state funded and must
work within resources raised or secured from partners as it continues
to fulfill its mission.
- Are KRC’s services limited to Kingston?
Answer: No. KRC has and continues to engage programmes/ services
directly and indirectly within and outside off Kingston. Outside Kingston we
have supported programmes specifically in St James, Westmoreland, St. Elizabeth,
St. Ann, St Catherine, Kingston Metropolitan Area through the
Kingston Restoration Foundation. Being a partner of the
Micro Enterprise Financing Limited, it also assists in extending credit services to
micro businesses in Savanna- la- mar -Westmorland, Santa Cruz - St Elizabeth,
Linstead - St Catherine, St Thomas and Kingston.
- How is KRC’s managed?
Answer: KRC is managed by a 19 member Board of Directors with daily
operations overseen by an Executive Director and an in house management
team. All programmes are approved by its board of directors and the company is
audited annually.
- Is KRC and Kingston & St Andrew Corporation (KSAC) the same entity?
Answer: No. KSAC is the corporation that governs the municipality of
Kingston and St Andrew.
